Bariatric surgery is a new and emerging field in dietetics. More patients are now turning to bariatric surgery as a treatment for morbid obesity. It is important that dietitians and patients understand that the procedure doesn’t “cure” obesity. Sustained behavioral change is important for weight maintenance, even after surgery. Many patients may seek out dietitians to help prevent or reverse weight regain. This webinar will discuss what factors contribute to weight regain and how to help patients achieve long-term weight loss success. It is especially important for healthcare professionals working in weight management to understand these factors.
