Kellene Anne Isom, MS, RD, LDN
Kellene received her BA and MS at Boston University. She completed her Dietetic Internship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, MA. She has worked in private practice, academic health care, and university settings, specializing in weight management, bariatric surgery, sports nutrition, and GI disorders. She received her certificate of training in Adult Weight Management in 2010.
Kellene has been the Bariatric Program Manager for the Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital since 2009. She is also an Adjunct Nutrition Professor for the Bouve College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University.
Kellene is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker in bariatric surgery nutrition and has multiple publications in the field of bariatric surgery. She has given presentations for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Food and Nutrition Expo, Obesity Week, the Bariatric Summit, and other national and local conferences on bariatric nutrition and bariatric programming.
Kellene has held multiple roles on the Executive Committee for the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group (WM DPG). She is currently the Network Director for the WM DPG. Kellene is involved in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic’s workgroup for the Bariatric Surgery Evidence Analysis Library. She is also part of the ASMBS IH committee writing the ASMBS Nutrition Guidelines Update. She is an associate editor for the Journal of Obesity Surgery and the co-editor for the 2nd edition of the 2014 Academy’s Pocket Guide to Bariatric Surgery. Kellene recently started her doctoral degree at Simmons College where she is seeking a PhD in Health Professions Education.
