Catherine Metzgar, RD
Catherine is a graduate research assistant and doctoral candidate in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her current research focuses on determinants of weight gain prevention in young adult and midlife women, and she aims to identify optimal strategies and key recommendations for prospective weight gain prevention.
Catherine completed her dietetic internship at the Pennsylvania State University and graduated from Kansas State University with degrees in nutrition, exercise science and dietetics.
In addition to the Weight Management DPG, Catherine serves as the current Website Chair of the Public Health/Community Nutrition Practice Group and as the Government/Public Affairs Chair of the Eastern Illinois Dietetic Association. She is also an American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer and a member of the American Society for Nutrition.
